The Planting America Blog

30Nov09

In December 2006, a friend and I started a non-profit organization called Planting America Inc. Our goal was to plant one million trees while we biked across the country–from Virginia to Oregon in the summer of 2008.

In the end, we succeeded. With the help of over 7,000 volunteers, sponsorships from Raleigh Bicycles, Warner Bros. Music, Patagonia and more, and media exposure on the Martha Stewart Show, NPR, MTV, the Star-Ledger, and more, we successfully planted or distributed over 3.5 million trees, seeds, and saplings.

We closed the e-doors of our website in 2009 when we dissolved our company. This blog is a reproduction of the blogs I wrote after each state we visited in the summer of 2008 on our bike trip. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions, and enjoy.

Please visit www.matthewcortina.com for more information and a real neat time.
